Candia has found the most amazing chocolate treat that is not just for Passover….it is for everyone for every day!

Everyone must read about this product and it should be marked “NOT FOR JEWS ONLY”….seriously..I mean if I can be the Christmas Tree Queen, any of you non-Jews can be the Matzoh Queen with just as much ease….ok, here is the deal with this incredible product. Just think about these words, “chocolate, toffee, butter, sweet, sophisticated” and that is what Matzel Toff is all about.

It seems that making chocolate covered matzoh has a tradition for Passover (boy I might have enjoyed celebrating this holiday more if I had someone in my family that made this kind of item..you all know my sweet tooth and preference for chocolates)…and a nice guy named Phillip had been enjoying his Grandmother’s recipe for this product when he was a student he perfected the recipe to include toffee as well as chocolate and it seems used to bring it to friends as a gift…(not just for Passover)…his friend Abby (the adorable girl I met yesterday at her home office in Greenwich)tasted it and the two of them knew they had a business. Well, according to Abby, they knew they had something interesting at first bite, but didn’t realize it would really grow into an incredible business…

They have brought the chocolate covered matzoh into the modern age. They make products that are Kosher, as well as Kosher for Passover…As you can see from the photo…there are some adorable gift boxes and they have basically two varieties. Milk chocolate and dark chocolate with sea salt….all I can say is that this product is fun, original, and tasty. Phillip and Abby are smart too..this is only their second year of business and they managed through incredible skills to team up with Streit’s matzoh to be their supplier of Matzoh and help spread the word. Interesting and smart for those of us that are marketers…..Matzel Toff is upmarket, but Streit’s has some interesting distribution.

Let me describe the experience of this product and why it will be a must buy for those of you having/attending Passover seders and those of you that want something wonderful as a house gift or at your next dinner party. Oh, did I mention to you that I never eat matzoh? I hate it…I mean, at our family seders I just pretend to eat it…but there is really almost nothing that could get me to eat it…HOWEVER…this is a different story….Ok, first glance, the packaging. Adorable…slightly 60′s, fabu colors….easy to read (great for us old folks). There are two basic formats to the boxes. The “gift box” is “fancier” and inside the pretty box is a package wrapped in cellophane with two pieces of matzoh. This is what you give to your host or hostess. When you open the box and then the inner wrapper is removed, the smell is heaven. Really, and the fact that you don’t smell it until you break the inner wrapping says to me that the product will keep. (Abby tells me the shelf life is about 6 months…personally I think about 6 minutes to someone eats it all!).

The “family box” is less about packaging and more about volume..as Abby said, “this is for the hostess having the seder”…personally, I think that if you give someone the gift size, you better have the family size in your bag, because the gift size is not enough! (this will be good for sales I think)….

I asked Abby if they do custom bags, like for a wedding or bar mitzvah or birthday and the answer is YES.

I won”t even go into the wonderful charity programs they are involved in as well..go to their website now to order and read more about the company. You must order now…seriously, because they didn’t anticipate how popular the Kosher for Passover products would be….there is a short supply…this is not a mass produced product..so get yours now!. Tell them I sent you and then tell me what you think.

I plan to bring this to friends in France this Spring (ok, you guys if you are reading you will know it is coming..but you won’t believe the taste!!)

Enjoy!
