I had lunch today with my dear friend Larry at Balthazar (ok ,you see I linked to them) .He had a club sandwich without the mayo or fries..he is so thin, always has been, so I am not sure why he even worries about this, but ok….he watches. I had oysters from the West Coast and some smoked salmon..I am really trying to get back into my clothes. I know this is boring, but for the past year, the only time I have lost any weight was in June in France..why oh why can’t I get back to my fighting weight of 2008?
Anyway, Larry wanted to know if the lunch was “on the record” or “off”. Would our lunch be an inspiration for candiastyle and would it be scary? Well, everyone I meet is fair game in my opinion, especially if I have an experience that is worth telling everyone about.
So, here is the story. We met for a brainstorming session, and so this post is a kind of appeal to those of you out there that have some good ideas. How can I increase my audience? How many of you have sent this to a friend? Who knows someone who writes a blog that I could also write for? Who knows about Search Engine Optimization and will tutor me, or most likely your kid knows about it and I can treat them to something nice (no drugs!)…send the information my way and make your request for compensation..I do best in styling your table, cooking something for you or teaching you to cook something…but no request will be refused for consideration…..but I know that those of you that read this are smart…
One of our other discussions today that I can write about, besides the fact that the service at Balthazar was surprisingly good, was that Marie Louise Parker was interviewed in the Wall Street Journal today and she talked about blogging, twitter, blogging and social media in general. She is not a fan..she sees it, and I am not quoting here, but summarizing, as a bunch of people being mean and feeling self important etc. I blog, obviously, and I post my posts on Facebook to spread the word….but I am not trying to be mean, I am searching for like minded souls and to share….personally I have to admit I am not adept at twitter, and other than getting some information concerning traffic or what fruits are at the market, it isn’t for me..but does she have a point?
I have spoken about communication…and I think many people don’t know how. They do it only on email, and never pick up the phone, and certainly when they are in front of someone, still don’t know how to behave….I think the challenge today is to use all the resources we have available for communication and that means reaching out and touching people as well as reaching them here…
Well, that’s it for on the record..I guess the word for today that is “helpful” is go to Balthazar, and you don’t even have an out of towner with you…..and then read today’s WSJ (or just click here to see the article)
